Jape is the pen name of JP Trostle, an artist and illustrator in Durham, North Carolina. A quarter-century veteran of the newspaper industry (remember newspapers?), he has worked for a number of dailies and alt-weeklies. He’s received a random assortment of state and national design awards, and won First Place in Illustration from the Association of Alternative Newsmedia in 2013. He has been an editor and art director for a half-dozen books on political cartooning, including the Attitude series with cartoonist Ted Rall, and in 2004, was given the Ink Bottle Award from the Association of American Editorial Cartoonists.
